"I asked you about love and you told me it's a gift that some of us got and some of us missed"
And still the James Bond soundtracks haunt me....
Okay, so Wednesday proved to be suuuper busy.
When we got to campus, sis and I met up with Maria to help get things together for the French Club's booth at Winter Cruise, a campus tradition in which many clubs/organizations set up booths, follow a theme, and give out freebies and info about their group. This year's theme was James Bond in Candyland, whatever the hell that's supposed to be.
Anyway, Maria brought us all coffee, which was super nice of her in spite of the fact that I'm not a big coffee fan and hadn't had a cup of coffee for at least six years. I say this now, because I'm giving you a heads up to the fact that after drinking my big cup o' joe I was on a crazy ass caffeine high for the rest of the day and was pretty much bouncing off the walls. The downer to my energy rush was that my stomach ached for as long as my energy lasted...so that's no good.
But anyway, so I spent the majority of my day at the booth, helping keep little miss pulled-an-all-nighter (aka Maria) awake, giving away french kisses (i.e Hershey kisses), various other types of candy, bubbles, pencils, paper hearts, and information about the French club. Also, I designed a fortune teller that allowed people to learn what famous dead french person they were in a past life. As it turns out, quite a few people were Napoleon Bonapart and Marie Curie. Who'd have thought? (the options all together were the two previously listed, as well as Jean D'Arc, Gustave Eiffel, Marcel Marceau, Simone de Bouvoir, Claude Monet, and Josephine Baker--yes, I realize not all of them were french but they found fame in France so same difference
).
Anyway, as a whole it was super fun. I saw a few of my friends and/or people I knew from past classes and had fun gushing to Maria about the loveliness of Ryan's voice (I let her hear a msg from him, she quite agrees). Other pass times included teasing Maria about her love of bearded men, talked about people we saw walking around, watching the Bond man dance around, fending off a crazy straw-hat wearing man who was after Maria's heart (poor girl, not only did he not have a beard but he was also a good ol' boy. Accent and lack of sophistication included. Plus he was down right creepy), and eating candy.
While at Winter Cruise I managed to get all kinds of freebies. Said freebies include but are not limited to:
A 2007 Homecoming Tshirt from the SGA [Student Government Association] (I was asked to fill out a comment card and tell them how they're doing. I said they're doing well and begged them to get Weezer to come for one the spring/fall concert lol), two plastic cups (one from the SGA, and another that Maria took from the SGA and wrote "Fraincais is cool" on), a "This is what a feminist looks like" sticker from FMLA [Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance] (where I saw Veronica who was quite rude to me. It's not my fault she sucks as a president and never gets anything done), two tote bags from the SPDA [Student Painting & Drawing Association] (I had to pay for these, however, I got to choose a free V.day card which was rad. Some of them were stupidly retarded, though....like "You're my ass rainbow!" wtf?), oogles of candy, a mini toothbrush, a plastic martini glass, and a "sand garden" aka a wooden tray that I filled with all kinds of beach-related things (mini flip flops, drink umbrella, starfish, sand dollar, foam flamingo and palm tree, rubber alligator, etc) minus the sand. One of my favorite things that I got was a giant button with my face super imposed over a nun's on it (I look like my eyes are going to fall out. It's funny. Sis got one with her face super imposed over Vince Vaughn's and she's standing next to Owen Wilson. The button makes me drool. *siiigh* lol).
I also got to shoot a glock at a paper wedding couple (the glock was rigged to shoot air) for $1. I did nicely
. Oh, and sis, Maria, and I got our pic made. Voici:

(Left to right/top to bottom: Me, sis, Maria) I look like a snob. I love it. lol
After W.C. ended (at 4pm) I took Maria out to a super late lunch at Zaxby's. This one guy that worked there kept coming out and looking at me it a weird way. Gave me the hibejibes.
Later we met back up with sis (who had abandoned us around 12 for classes and paper writing) and hung out in the art building. While there, I saw Ira as well as learned that I can hold a tube of lipstick with my boobs and apply it evenly to my lips (No, Ira was not in the room when I discovered this talent). Impressive, right? Blame this new found knowledge on Maria. It's her fault for watching The Breakfast Club.
Thursday was pretty mellow. Painting was okay'ish and Litho was the usual (i.e. lots of joking, dirty double entendres--apparently I'm into waxing cucumbers, and down time with friends). I got my first etch processed on my stone...so...yay. Also, John (prof.) ran after sis like a little girl saying "Whyyyyyyy, Laken, whyyyy?" It was ridiculously funny.
Something interesting? Saw Cory. I had my back to the door while I was "massaging my stone" (i.e. rubbing gum arabic all over the surface) and I heard someone behind me go "Mea B...[Last name protected for obvious reasons]" So I was like *who on earth would call me by my full name?* and turned around. It was Cory. idk why. He stopped by before his drawing class with Donna, though. Then he came back on his brake and hung out. Ugh...I swear, he's liked some kind of a drug that gets into my system and makes it hard not to think about the possibility of things happening there. Greg was saying to me that he [Cory] has been having problems with Jessica. He also told Greg that he's ready to have sex and is going crazy. So, I don't know, he's retarded. And I need to stop seeing him. He keeps giving me bad thoughts and ideas that I would never want to follow through on. Especially for Jessica's sake.
Anyway, after classes sis, Maria, Greg, and I (we invited Cory but he declined so I ran through the parking lot saying "Cory P. sucks!") went to Olive Garden where we laughed insanely, I was uneasy over the presence of a giant child who slept very rigidly and who's mother later picked it's nose for it (I'm thinking "it" was a he but who knows?), and probably made our waiter [Scott] feel very uncomfortable. Plus I think he thought we were all flirting with him. How sad for him...
Yesterday I basically did nooothing of relevance. I worked on a History paper which was due at Midnight that I managed to send to my prof. at 11:57:44pm. Whew. Other than that not a whole lot happened. Little got done today, too. I finally cashed the two Subway checks I'd been carrying around for close to a month and I donated a $1 for the March of Dimes and received a almond and chocolate bar that I am now eating.
Workload for next week includes:
Hist: Take quiz 2x and prepare for the exam
Marriage & Fam: get 1 more woman and 3 more men to take my survey so I'll be able to give Betsy the results on Wednesday
Painting: Finish figuring out proportions / under painting by Tues and begin adding color
Lithography: Complete my 2nd etch and produce at least 1 "good" print (though I really need to do my whole edition) by Thursday.
Has anyone seen any of the episodes of Gossip Girl on The CW? Just curious. I've seen some previews and am kind of interesting but I could just be being swayed by the music they've been playing with the show clips. lol
